Obituary Blog

RUTH ANN VILLANUEVA.  We announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and Aunt Ruth Ann Villanueva on Sunday, August 22, 2077. With her one and only son, her grandchildren and all of her closest relatives, friends and family beside her, Ruth Ann took her last breath after celebrating her 86th birthday at their house in Boboy, Batangas, Philippines. In sympathy for her lost, Ruth Ann chose to be mourned at their house hoping that the important people in her life would come and visit in her funeral and for the last day of her burial, she wanted to be viewed at the church and wished to be cremated. She had a life full of happiness and struggles which she successfully conquered through her faith and strength with the help of her supportive family. Ruth Ann had a peaceful death though it was painful for her loved ones. Ruth Ann was a fortunate woman to have a loving son in her early teenage life. She was fourteen years old when she got pregnant and gave birth two months before she turned fifteen. She never got married to the father of her son and neither to the other guys that became her partner through her days of living. She likes to explore and learn new things by traveling. Ruth Ann spent seventeen years of her life in the Philippines and immigrated to Canada before she turned into legal age of eighteen. She left her old friends but brought their good memories as they grew together. When she transferred to other country, she didn`t find it hard to make new friends for she was a cheerful and approachable person. She took the good opportunity of being able to study at Winnipeg, Manitoba.  She finished her Grade 12 at Sisler High School, took an English Entry Program, Health Care Aide course and finally continued her dream to be a Registered Nurse at Red River College. Having the support of her family through everything that she did was important to Ruth Ann and gave her strength to achieve her goals in life. She was an achiever when she was still a student at Herzing and Red River College. She got her first job as a Health Care Aide at Deer Lodge Nursing Home and stayed there for almost 10 years. While working, she was also studying the Nursing course to improve her knowledge of taking care of people in need. Furthermore, that was her stepping stone of giving her son a better future even if she was a single mother. Her parents and other family members never let her down and gave her the support that she needed including the emotional, financial and moral support. She raised her son with the help of her parents and made him finish a Medicine Course. Ruth Ann trained her son how to be good, responsible and independent in young age and always reminded him that she will not always be by his side, that when the right time comes, she will be leaving him with his new family. After graduating from the Nursing Course, Ruth Ann decided to migrate again to United States of America for her real family was there. She wasn`t contented to live at Canada because she wanted to live with her aunts and cousins at US and also, her parents wanted to go back to Philippines and never wanted to stay longer in Canada yet they do not want to leave Ruth Ann and her son without anyone to look after both of them. Ruth Ann worked in the hospital in the United States and became a head nurse for twenty years. She waited until her son get married and have his own family before she decided to retire from her profession and went back to Philippines.
She is survived by her son, Kit Jonathan Villanueva, daughter-in-law, Nicole Angel Villanueva, grandchildren, Kurt Ian Mikel and Angelica, half-brother, Cris Villanueva Jr., sister-in-law, Mary Gene, nephew, Jhon Michael and  niece, Nikka Mae Villanueva.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Florentina Mendoza and Cristologo Villanueva, grandparents, Josefa and Jose Villanueva, Julia and Santiago Mendoza.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., Sunday August 29, at San Isidro Labrador Church, San Luis, Batangas. Jayvee Luna will officiate. Friends may contact the family members for more information.
